Read Chapter 10, Applying the Segmenting and Pretraining Principles. Read the Design Dilemma and answer the questions for yourself. Then, after reading the chapter check your answers with the author's observations on page 219.
In a post to this Forum, describe your reactions to the information in this chapter and how it relates to your past experiences in creating instructional materials.
My Response:
I agree with the authors information in Chapter 10. Segmentation is very important in creating instructional materials. If you give a student too much information the student can feel overwhelmed and not do well. I remember taking Calculus 2 and the professor would very rapidly do the algebra and transform the equation of a calculus problem on the board. I remember it was very difficult to follow as it was a lot of steps. I would also become lost as I tried to review the problem on my own. I feel if the professor had segmented and broke down the steps further I would have understood how the professor got from the initial problem to the final answer.
