I will plan a short “story” using the 522 camera and tripod. The story is not a how- to or has any instructional value but a simple story:
Taking the dog for a walk, Getting dinner ready, Getting ready for work, etc.
Then you are to shoot the various shots and organize them in a folder (name and title).
I will make a copy of this folder and also will edit my version of this video story.
The following shots ARE REQUIRED in your home video story:
1. ESTABLISHING SHOT - at least two long shots outside the house or neighborhood angle to establish where this story is taking place
2. Close up and medium shots: Move close and don’t keep the camera at a Long Shot mode
3. Cutaway - Shoot as many cutaway shots in case you need to insert them between clips to change scenes, and solve jump cut problems. Cut away shots are: close up of a clock, close up of pile of books, medium shot of dog, etc.
4. Zoom in and zoom out shots.
5. Matched action edit: When you shoot your video make sure the action in your shot will be matched. *You could use coming in the frame action and going out of the frame .
6. ACTION/REACTION: Get reaction shot of your talent action: the dog, a person watching the person, and reacting to the action.
7. Change of angle shot - top down, bottom up, etc. Don’t always use straight on shot.
