Visit My Strengths, Meet the eSmartz Aliens,. Do the activity there as demonstrated in class. In a post to this Forum, embed one screenshot of the three you chose and describe how accurate, if at all, the activity is for you. How might you use this in a class, or a spinoff you create, if at all?

Answer

I think this activity is rather simple. My top choice is LM-Smartz which describes me rather well.

I think some students might find this activity interesting. This activity however rudimentary gives the instructor the ability to see what the student is strong at and maybe help to develop learning materials for the student to aid in the assistance of student learning. It also reminds me of socionics which is a modification of Jung’s personality type theory.

Forum Response

Respond to your classmates' posts to the Who Are You? Forum (Aliens) with a thoughtful answer and a question. They, in turn will respond back to them. Only respond to someone who has no response yet to receive full credit for your posts. Finish by Monday midnight or sooner.

I responded to this post:

I have always been a logical/mathematical person. My parents used to call me Spock when I was a kid because of how logical I could be at times. I am very interested in strategy type board games and always look for new ones to play. As a person who plays video games a lot, I enjoy playing games that make me think and work towards solving a problem. I enjoy solving word problems and even fine tune my math skills from time to time to make sure that I still know them. (was a former Math Ed Student)

I have an activity from a conference that I like to do with students that tells them what kind of person they are (kinesthetic, visual, logical, artistic. etc.). Each type of person has a different color attached to it, and is based on a ranking system that students create that are most like they are. I haven't done this activity in a few years, but it is a good way to learn who your students are.

My response:

I am also a logical and mathematical person. I like working with computers, running calculations, playing video games and board games too.

Since you used to do a similar activity with your students, why did you stop? Are you able to identify what type of learning your students might be best at or do you use another method in identifying what type of learners they are? Did you find that the activity from the conference you went to longer or more complicated than this one?
